Around
the world we have heavily produced and manufactured a trillion-dollar company
in pharmaceuticals. This being one of the largest infrastructures apart from
Apple, Microsoft or even more than Elon musk’s net worth by 3 times. While for
some people who take prescription drugs is often the answers to their health,
or life-threatening conditions, it does leave people open to become heavily
dependent on them as they were only meant to use these drugs for a short time.
This is one of many ways on how big Pharma Companies make their profit from
people.
What
we know about pharmaceuticals is they are a bio-chemical compound manufactured
for the use as medicinal drug. Which is then used to counteract or treat
illnesses, with purpose of being a short use only. However, big pharma companies’
primary goals are to profit off illness and treat illnesses instead of curing
them. Ask yourself this, why cure a disease in a day when there is far more
money to be made for treating it and billing patients along the way. These
treatments can include drugs and medical plans which put people on medications
for weeks or months which can lead to people being relied on them, or even in
worse case addicted.
Opioids are one the biggest epidemics this country this country. Opioids are a pain killer, it has similar effects like heroin, which is why it is very addicting. Big Pharma companies will tell you otherwise, if that were true, we wouldn’t have an epidemic, and they would not be a trillion-dollar company. Admittedly pharmaceuticals like Opioids, Xanax, and Adderall are prescribed for people that are in need and with big health risks, but they are only meant to be taken for a short while, or in small quantities.
My intervention is to raise awareness on these issues, these companies will misinform the public, they lie to people who are desperate just to make a quick buck, extend the search of looking for a cure and not finding a cure. I drew and crafted this poster with my sister, so not all the credit goes to me. I want to spread the message about big Pharma, to patients, to doctors, and to people who might be suffering or going through this, we don’t need a dope dealer, we need a hope dealer.
From the Art of Activism on page 6 "Visions of success are what get us up and out in the morning and what attract others to do the hard and necessary work with us," personally I think if we see success, we feel better about ourselves, and what we're doing. If people can see themselves get out of addiction, get out of something holding them back, everyone else will follow by that very example.
From the Art of Activism "While it takes years of professional training to practice (or even understand) law, policy analysis, or governmental lobbying, creativity is a skill we all already possess and can learn to hone and use to great effect." I think that a few words and creativity can really impact the few, and if a few people can get impacted, those people can impact others, and others more, and more, until there are of many.
