This Is What I Know About Art - Amanda Losardo

This Is What I Know About Art - Kimberly Drew Book

"It was not just enough to be angry. I had to be strategic."

This quote resonated with me because isn't that the whole point of art activism? It is not enough to be angry with a situation, you must go out and do something about it. Do something visually to get peoples' attention. Kimberly Drew did this with her blog.

“Society tells us that we have to take coursework to become high earners to make valuable contributions to the world.”

A LOT of my up bringing surrounded this idea. Society 100% is telling people you have to take all these different courses, you have to go to a college to earn good money in life at a job. It's actually a little absurd to be honest, nowadays people who have never even attended a college or even finished high school can become high earners off of social media and never even leaving their house.

"If being in the arts has taught me anything, it is that one of the wisest things anyone can say is 'I don't know'"

This might actually be my favorite quote and it's from the introduction. Art is so uncomplicated for lack of a better word. There will always be someone that sees an artwork or art form differently than you do while still presenting the same message. "not knowing" in a sense opens room for discussion amongst others and their interpretations.

I like both of these photos so much. They are so powerful in the messages in that YOU are everything. YOU can break down barriers and create all things. I would think that the first image could be in an exhibition of "knowledge is power" and the second image could be in an exhibition of 'Self Love"
