Yoko Ono - A Groundbreaking Artist, Activist and Fighter
“Even though she was frequently criticized and even ostracized by the press and the public, she fought her way through all the hardships with her creativity and challenging artwork”.
I liked this part because shows how she challenged the public making something that’s different and I could seen as something rude or weird but she kept doing what she wanted to and share her messages by her performances and showing that there’s nothing that can stop her creativity.
“The simplicity of her work may have been derided for years, but it is exactly that which makes it greatly accessible”.
I focused on this part too because I feel it’s true that you don’t need to be a “professional” to create art and share your messages, and the simplicity in my opinion can be something complicated too depending of the objective of the artwork and being simple makes that anybody can take the message.
Interview with Shaun Leonardo - Performance, Pedagogy, and Philosophy
“I don’t know what drove me to identify as an artist because it wasn’t within my familial background—not that I know of anyway—and my only exposure to art, growing up in Queens, were the moments here and there where we visited the Queens Museum and the Metropolitan Museum”.
I liked this part because I kinda feel identity on it because I come from a family where most of them are doctors and they were expecting me to continue with the family and be with them but just in a random moment the art grew in me and that makes me think that art it’s for everyone no matter were you from there’s no obstacle that is going to stop our artistic side.
“Artists need to take in, to process, to decipher, to separate from the noise and create things that are beautiful and impactful to the spirit”.
This part caught my eye because when I create art I feel like I’m in a moment where there’s nothing around me and it’s only me creating something that’s different and after u do it I feel like I took out all of my internal thoughts and feelings and seen this part when says to separate the noise and all that stuff that’s happening in the world to create something that comes from our spirit makes me understand how I feel doing art.
Part 2
In this project I’m thinking to create a big artwork on a canvas and at the beginning the artwork will be incomplete and I want the people to complete the artwork together with sharing their personal thoughts or feelings and so the art work is going to be a way to share to the world how we are feeling and are we thinking about all the situations that is happening in today’s society.
